The blast reportedly took place not far from a military headquarters in Rostov-on-Don

A large blast has occurred in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, multiple Telegram channels reported in the early hours of Thursday. 

According to reports, the explosion took place on Pushkinskaya Street, near a military command center.

Rostov Region Governor Vasily Golubev wrote on Telegram that air defenses were activated around 3 am local time, and “a drone has been shot down.” He added that officials were working to determine if there were any casualties or damage.

Videos posted online reportedly show the moment of the blast.

According to Telegram channel Don Mash, a parked vehicle has exploded.

Firefighters are working at the scene, where at least one car was destroyed and another one was damaged. The facade of a building has also been damaged.
