Multiple people have been shot at a Kroger supermarket in Collierville, Tennessee, according to local media. Emergency services are at the scene, with first responders still assessing the severity of the situation.

Law enforcement told Fox 13 on Thursday that nine people were shot at the Kroger branch in Collierville, a town located on the outskirts of Memphis. The condition of the victims is unknown, and multiple ambulances and police vehicles were called to the scene.

The status of the perpetrator or perpetrators is also unclear, with police telling media that they were working to make the scene secure. No further information was given, although unconfirmed reports claim that radio communications among emergency services indicate that the shooter killed themselves inside the store.

Video footage showed several ambulances rushing to a local hospital, with at least one vehicle carrying multiple victims. Local reporter Stacy Jacobson said that her crew was instructed not to move their vehicle parked outside the hospital, as staff there were “preparing for helicopter landings.”

Collierville Schools went into lockdown as a precaution as the incident unfolded, with an alert sent to parents warning of an off-campus active shooter nearby.
